About Us

Aesthetic non-utilitarianism

This is the Global Leisure Gala, a world-class leisure and entertainment festival that attract the public to have an firsthand experience. It includes a series of activities such as the annual report, award ceremony, destination promotion, product launch and exhibition, etc, and is jointly hosted by institutions like the Global Leisure Council and the World Leisure Organization (WLO), as well as the bidding city, It's just like the Olympics in the fields of tourism, leisure and recreation.

We reaffirm the value proposition of "human beings are the end goal", focus on the self-actualization of individuals, and emphasize the decisive role of leisure in promoting human aesthetics, cognition, and health.

We advocate the aesthetic non-utilitarianism. Based on philosophical thinking about the universe and human nature, we formulate an environmental health certification system to evaluate all leisure behaviors and related industries,Create the Pteris Award to encourage and commend individuals, groups or projects that have made outstanding contributions in the field of environmental art and aesthetics of life.

During the intervals between galas, we disseminate the latest industry information, provide relevant services such as environmental health certification and skills training, build a communication and cooperation platform for relevant institutions and individuals from different countries and regions around the world, promote the exchange of leisure cultures, and drive the sustainable development of the leisure industry.

Our View

Ⅰ Eros, Leisure, and Freedom

Human nature determines people's demands and behavior patterns.

The essence of tourism and leisure ultimately needs to be analyzed from the perspectives of psychology and philosophy.

We step into nature, experience the scenery of mountains and rivers, come to foreign lands, understand the customs and traditions of foreign lands, or appreciate the mysteries of the universe through reading, listening, and meditation - such tourism and leisure activities are fundamentally driven by "Eros".

Eros - dedicated to establishing universal connections and sufficient interpersonal relationships with all things in nature, its essence is the Seek for "infinity" - Aspire to infinity (all encompassing, therefore without any limitations or regulations), until the integration of all things, the unity of heaven and man, and the smoothness of harmony ("digitalization and informatization" further strengthen the ability of Eros to "establish relationships" with all things), ultimately achieving self realization and peak experience through "universal love".

The "peak experience" of universal love, due to its infinite diversity, allows humans to realize that " All are empty" (just like the mixture of multiple colors, resulting in either black or white) - allowing the mind to return to the calm of emptiness (absolute symmetry, balance).

The "means and ways" of establishing a "relationship" through Eros(love) are "cognition".

The process of cognition is the information processing of perception from the whole body and mind by the brain - the process of forming thinking and consciousness, encompassing all behaviors of human individuals anytime, anywhere.

Cognition, especially when it comes to reluctantly engaging in a certain job or enduring hardships for the sake of life, is a task assigned by heaven that must be completed. Everyone has no choice but to do it, and it is forced (In this sense, Entering or Detachment from the world all need to be honed. Life is a process of "Hone one's mettle, soul and physique").

On the contrary, leisure is a free, spontaneous, and voluntary cognitive and aesthetic process.

The typical feature of leisure (cognitive and aesthetic experience) is the Euphoria & Pleasure brought by the secretion of dopamine and endorphins in the human body during the leisure process.

Euphoria & Pleasure itself is not an end in itself, but a reward for establishing a 'relationship'.

Euphoria & Pleasure inspire us - to act with all our body and mind, to understand ourselves, to understand all things, and to establish a universal connection between ourselves and all things - this is the purpose of Eros.

Love and Eros, through communication with all things and establishing (occurring) relationships, achieve the cognition of "self" and "other things" - known as "investigating things to gain knowledge, awaken natural instinct" in Chinese philosophy - to achieve the perfection of the human mind's all encompassing nature, and ultimately realize the freedom of the soul (human nature).

The freedom of the soul transcends all joys and sorrows, It is manifested as the calmness of treating life and death indifferently, comes from the experience of traveling through countless mountains and rivers, from the aesthetic appreciation of art, and it ends up in the harmony and integration of the Huayan School of Buddhism.

The Huayan School holds that the Tathata and the Buddha nature are the essence of all things in the universe. All sentient beings and even all things contain the Buddha nature. The Tathata gives rise to all things according to conditions, and all things are inseparable from the Tathata. The Tathata is like water, and all things in the world are like the waves of water, Although the waves change in various ways, they are all manifestations of water. In the process of the true suchness giving rise to all dharmas according to conditions, its essence does not change, and all dharmas also contain the essence of the true suchness. This reflects the harmonious relationship between the noumenon and the phenomenon.

The Tathata and the Buddha nature, as the essence that exists universally and transcends individual differences, are present in every corner of the world and in all things, including even inanimate objects. In this sense, all things are in harmony with each other and contain each other. Any single thing encompasses all other things, and the entire universe is a harmonious and unobstructed whole.

The freedom of the soul lies in the enlightenment after integrating all things, as well as in the state of being plain, composed, and pure. The "Mahayana Stopping and Contemplation" states, "This mind is the self-nature pure mind, also known as the Tathata, and also known as the Buddha nature."

Ⅱ Aesthetic action: The Supreme Utility of the Seemingly Useless

To evaluate the value and quality of a certain leisure activity, we need to consider whether this leisure activity or behavior has stimulated the Eros, and to what extent does it promote the more extensive and effective expression of Eros.

In simple terms, the quality and value of a certain leisure activity or behavior depend on its inspiration and motivation for both the body and the mind, as well as the corresponding cognitive and aesthetic values.

The essence of aesthetic feeling is the psychological resonance (the so-called "empathy") caused by the "harmony and symmetry" of external objects (or the environment), or the kinetic energy (the so-called " Excited state ") triggered by the psychological compensation induced by "symmetry breaking" (the absence of a perfect state or "imperfection").

Eros urges the body and mind to adapt widely to the external environment. Seeking resonance with the environment, or compensating for the broken parts and restoring the symmetrical balance – this aesthetic instinct will ultimately contribute to the perfection of the body, mind and spirit.

Therefore, the practical significance of leisure lies in restoring and promoting the perfection of the body and mind (the balance between the physical and mental aspects), which is to achieve the "health" as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO).

It can be seen that although cultural arts and various aesthetic activities do not have the functions of daily necessities like oil, salt, sauce and vinegar, they transcend the satisfaction of basic physical needs in real life. They can eliminate psychological narrow-mindedness and mental disorders, and promote physical health by improving mental health. They possess great significance (for enlightening the mind and achieving self-realization) despite being seemingly "useless" (not applicable to satisfying hunger and thirst).

In short, we are always consciously or unconsciously striving for the greatness of our individual souls. Bertrand Russell, a British philosopher, once said:Those who possess a great soul have an open mind and can let the winds from all directions of the vast universe blow in freely. Within our capabilities, we should strive to truly understand ourselves, life, and the world. Life is fleeting and even insignificant, but all the values that the known universe possesses are concentrated within our individual hearts! If a person's mind can reflect the entire world, in a certain sense, he is as great as the world itself.
